Volunteer Small acts of kindness make a difference
Haitian Roots is grateful to those who have volunteered their time, talents, and means in the US and in Haiti. Those here in the US who dedicate their time to keep Haitian Roots going, fundraise, raise awareness, among a multitude of other things, are priceless to our success. Volunteering opportunities in Haiti are also very valuable to us as well as to those who have the chance to serve. Although we do not currently run regularly scheduled trips, we have planned and executed many successful volunteer trips in the past and look forward to many more.
If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.
Below are just a few of the ways that volunteers have helped to make a difference:
Kelly Howard connected with Samie at La Maison.
Crystal McMullen helped the Haitian Roots children escape from their daily cares and have some fun during a scholarship distribution.
Matt Carnogursky dug holes and helped poor cement for the fence posts on the land where we will build our school.
Jasmine Junk helped Greffline paint her tire to begin a "tire garden" project at La Maison.
Cadets from the Air Force Academy spent their Christmas vacation making repairs and painting La Maison orphanage.
The Russell family from Ogden, Utah threw a pancake breakfast to raise funds support and honor their Haitian son's desire to support his native country.
