Geography
Haiti, in the Caribbean, occupies the western third of the Island
Hispaniola, which it shares with the Dominican Republic. About the size of
Maryland, Haiti is two thirds mountains with the rest of the country marked
by great valleys, some extensive plateaus and plains. Its area is about
10,714 square miles.
