Mother Teresa says, “I alone can not change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.”  This past December many kind and generous individuals created ripples that will benefit our orphanage family for many years to come.

Dear Friends of Haitian Roots, Most of us are gearing up for Summer.  School is out!  A childhood song I used to sing went like this, "Oh what do you do in the summertime, when all the world is green?  Do you sit by a stream, or lazily dream on the banks as the clouds go by?...Do you swim in a pool, to keep yourself cool, or swing in a tree up high?...Do you march in parades, or drink lemonades, or count all the stars in the sky?  Is that what you do?  So do I!"*  Oh how I love summertime and singing that song always makes me sigh with contentedness.  I plan to do ALL of those things with my kids this summer as they "lazily dream" and don't take a second thought about school!

April 18, 2012 Dear Friends of Haitian Roots, Haitian Roots believes that education is the number one way to eradicate poverty and give hope to the future of Haiti. We have always struggled, however, when we see and know that the children in our program may not be eating, having safe shelter, or proper medical attention. It is worrisome and frustrating.

An Important Note – Sept 21, 2010


Dear Friends of Haitian Roots, We are so grateful to all of you who have been so supportive of Haiti—especially the outpouring of generosity after the earthquake.  At this time we are writing not to pester but simply to send a gentle reminder to those of you who have been intending to sponsor (or responsor) your child/ren but have been busy with other things.  Many of us are undergoing our own economic struggles at this time and the funds that we once had to help others may be gone.  Please know that we understand and are grateful for what you have done in the past and hope that things get better for you.  But we feel we’d be remiss if we didn’t keep you abreast of the situation in Haiti and the dire conditions that not only still exist but continue to worsen.
